We all have heard about IP address (Internet Protocol address). But many of us are still not aware What is IP address, How we get IP address, What is the use of IP address.In this section we will discusses about What is IP address and How Hackers spoof IP address as we see in movies ,change our location and took those who try to track down us to a world tour.
What is IP address...?
Let me explain with an example : Consider our world you lives in Sri Lanka and I am in Nepal am going to send you a letter which you will be received on your address. How does it reach you..?
Step 1: I post letter with your address.
Step2:Post office reads your country name and send it your country.
Step3:Your country receives the letter.
Step4:Send to the local post office area where you live.
Step5:The letter will be reached to you.
Now a little reality how do you think the letter reached you there can be a 100 person with your name and may be a 10 person with same house name and few number with same street name. What make you different from those is your PIN code which took the letter to your locality.
An IP address is same as like that PIN code
An IP address (Internet Protocol address) is a label with numerical address on it and which follows the Internet Protocol for communication. IP address have 2 standard IPV4 and IPV6 that is Internet Protocol address version 4 version 6.
IPV4 address is represented by combination of 4 numbers separated by dots. IPV4 address is 32 bit address. eg. 192.168.10.1 IPV4 address is classified into 5 classes Class A,Class B,Class C , Class D, Class E.
IPV6 address is represented by group of 8 hexadecimal . eg 3001:cdba:1111:0000:0000:0000:4257:7652
As we all know at the origin of internet there was no much device to access internet so IPV4 addressing was enough how ever internet grown faster,it caused people to think that they will run out of IP address using IPV4 there can be only 232 combination as its base of 2. IPV6 has 2128 posible combination and its base of 16.
How we get IP address ... ?
An IP address can be either static or dynamic, in static IP address is assigned by our own, Dynamic IP address is automatically generated that is handled by DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol). DHCP runs on routers which assign IP to all connected devices.
What is the use of IP address...?
The main use of IP address is to identify each and every device that is connected to the network. As an IP address is unique each device can be identified. There are 2 types of IP public and private IP.Public IP is globally unique IP assigned to each computer which is used to communicate outside network. Its is assigned by the Internet Service Provider.
Private IP is the IP that is assigned to devices inside a private network.Which is used to communicate with the same network. IP classes Class A,B,C are assigned for it.
How to change IP address...?
Before changing IP address find out your IP address follow my steps
Step 1: Open a web browser and search "what is my public IP" .
torghost shows 4 options 1.start, 2.switch, 3.stop,4.help you can see the syntax there.
Syntax to start torghost: torghost -s or torghost --start you can see my current IP is 162.247.74.213 now.
